I’m Alyssa, a somatic practitioner and holistic recovery mentor. As not only a practitioner, but also someone with lived experience navigating the deep impacts of trauma and problematic substance use, I understand how overwhelming and isolating it can feel to live in its aftermath. Trauma shapes our nervous system, our relationships, and even our sense of who we are.
Through my own healing, I’ve discovered the transformative power of somatic practices, nervous system regulation, and earth-based wisdom. What I know to be true is this: your body was never the problem — it’s the compass.

You may have heard of somatic therapy, but what exactly is it?
You may have heard the term somatic therapy — but what does it really mean?
Somatic therapy is a body-centered approach to healing that recognizes the deep connection between your mind, body, and nervous system. Instead of focusing only on thoughts or stories, somatic work invites us to include the body — sensations, breath, movement, and awareness — as part of the healing process.
Why does this matter? Because trauma and stress don’t just live in the mind — they live in the body. Tightness in your chest, a knot in your stomach, feeling frozen or stuck — these are all ways the body holds on to past experiences. Somatic therapy helps you gently release these patterns, regulate your nervous system, and reconnect with your body’s natural intelligence.

•Exploring felt sensations (tightness, warmth, fluttering, numbness) with curiosity instead of judgment.
•Practicing interoception — noticing the subtle cues your body gives you about safety, stress, and need.
•Using breath, movement, and grounding exercises to gently shift your nervous system into regulation.
•Building the capacity to stay present with your experience — so you can move beyond survival mode and into connection.
This is the base layer of healing: creating safety in your body, cultivating trust, and discovering that your body is not the enemy, but the compass. From here, deeper layers of trauma, attachment, and recovery can be met with more resilience and compassion.

Somatic Breathwork
Breathwork is one of the most powerful tools we have for transformation. Using only your breath, you can access deep states of release, insight, and nervous system reset.

Attachment Repair Through Somatics
